Fruixi: every Saturday during the day, from June 7 to August 31, 2013
Fuixi is a portable cart that shelves fruit and vegetable from local farm producers in the Parc de l’Espoir park on the corner of St. Catherine and Panet Streets during the months of June to August.
Fruixi is the fruit of a collaboration between a designer, an urban planner and a market manager who decided to rekindle the spirit of the Montreal 1940s French fries stands. Updated and adapted to today’s needs by drawing on recent examples around the world, Fruixi is a social economic model focused on promoting healthy lifestyles.
• Providing fresh local fruit and vegetable when available.
• Promoting healthy lifestyles by active transportation and healthy food.
• Ending social isolation
• Emerging as a model of social economy by implementing inclusive and local employment programs.
